OPEN AUDITION REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

1. - All singers need to be a subscriber of Boston Singers’ Resource to participate in the Annual Open Auditions ($35/year) Current subscribers should check your profile for subscription expiration date. Accompanists do not need to be subscribers of Boston Singers’ Resource to participate, unless they are auditioning, also.

2. - Each auditioning performer must be a New England resident or full-time New England college student and at least 18 years old to participate. Please provide proof of residency (a photocopy of your driver’s license or student ID.) You must be a resident at the time of the audition to particpate.

3. - There is a $25 fee per open audition, payable by check or money order. This audition fee is fully refundable until one week prior to the audition after which time there will be no refunds.

4. - The BSR Open Auditions are for any classically trained performer seeking feedback on their audition technique or for those seeking performing work or for those wishing to participate in the select audition. Some auditors will be providing written feedback. 2008 writing panels will be announced at a later date.

5. - Open audition time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Only complete applications will be taken into consideration.

6. - All open performers must submit the following via US Post: BSR application (linked below), payment (check, or money order,) a one page resume, a small black and white photo (approx. 3x5 or smaller), a SASE (self-addressed-stamped business sized-envelope), and proof of residency (a driver’s license or full-time student ID), Please label photo and fasten it securely to the application. Mail all performer applications and supporting materials to: Boston Singers' Resource Auditions, PO. Box 811, Georgetown, MA 01833 DEADLINE is March 1 for all auditions.

7. - Singers participating in the open auditions will be given 4 minutes to present themselves or 6 minutes if both the singer and the accompanist are auditioning. Singers should briefly introduce themselves and their pieces. The 4 or 6 minutes will be strictly timed starting from when the music begins. Since many classical pieces are longer than 4 minutes, performers do not need to present a whole piece. Excerpts are fine but it is highly suggested that performers do not include more than 2 excerpts in a 4 minute slot. Literature chosen should be from the standard opera, oratorio, and classical orchestra repertoire.

8. - Warm-up rooms without pianos will be available on a limited basis.

9. - Please indicate on the application if you will be needing an accompanist. One will be provided at no extra cost. If you are an accompanist or a singer who is bringing an accompanist, please include your fellow performer's name and contact on the application

10. - More information will be mailed to all the performers prior to each audition.

11. - The submission of an application does not guarantee a performer entrance into the auditions. All applications will be screened and every effort will be made to include all of the applicants on a first-come, first-served basis but BSR reserves the right to accept or not accept any individual based on level of experience and space availability. The audition fees are fully refundable if cancellation occurs more than one week prior to the audiiton.
