OPEN AUDITION REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION PROCEDURE (March 31 and April 14):
1. - Each singer needs to be a current paid member of Boston Singers’ Resource to participate in the Annual Open Auditions (membership). Accompanists do not need to be members of Boston Singers’ Resource to participate, unless they are also submitting themselves for audition.
2. - Each auditioning performer must be a New England resident or full-time New England college student and at least 18 years old to participate. Please provide proof of residency (a photocopy of your driver’s license or student ID with year on it.) You must be a resident at the time of the application deadline to particpate.
3. - There is a $25 fee per open audition, payable by check or money order. This audition fee is fully refundable until one week prior to the audition after which time there will be no refunds.
4. - The BSR Open Auditions are for any classically trained performer seeking feedback on their audition technique, seeking performing work and for those wishing to participate in the Pre-selected Audition. Three adjudicators will be providing written feedback; names of 2012 adjudicators will be announced at a later date.
5. - Open Audition time slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Only complete applications will be taken into consideration.
6. - All Open Audition performers must upload their headshot and resume to their BSR profile AND submit the following via US Post: BSR application (linked below), payment (check, or money order,) a SASE (self-addressed-stamped business sized-envelope), and proof of residency (a copy of driver’s license or full-time student ID with date on it). Applications are not considered complete until both your headshot/resume are uploaded AND the application/supplementary materials are received. If you need BSR to upload headshot/resume for you, there is an additional $10 fee. Upload headshot/resume in 'My Resource' > 'Edit Profile' and mail performer application and copies of all supporting materials to:

Application Deadline: March 1, 2012
7. Please do not put your address on your resume or photo. Contact information on your resume should include website, email and phone, only.
8. - Singers participating in the Open Auditions will be given 4 minutes to present themselves or 6 minutes if both the singer and the accompanist are auditioning. Singers should briefly and loudly introduce themselves and their pieces. The 4 or 6 minutes will be strictly timed starting from when the music begins. Since many classical pieces are longer than 4 minutes, performers do not need to present a whole piece. Excerpts are fine but it is highly suggested that performers do not include more than 2 excerpts. Literature chosen should be from the standard opera, oratorio, and classical orchestra repertoire. If you are a performer who sings both opera and oratorio, please include an oratorio excerpt in your audition.
Sample Audition Repertoire - A compilation of audition pieces chosen and presented by BSR performers in the past.
9. - There are no warm up spaces available at the Open Audition location. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please make arrangements elsewhere.
10. - Please indicate on the application if you will be needing an accompanist. One will be provided at no extra cost. If you are an accompanist or a singer who is bringing an accompanist, please include your fellow performer's name and contact information on the application
11. - More information will be mailed to all the performers prior to each audition.
12. - The submission of an application does not guarantee a performer entrance into the auditions. All applications will be screened and every effort will be made to include all of the applicants on a first-come, first-served basis but BSR reserves the right to accept or not accept any individual based on level of experience and space availability. The audition fees are fully refundable if cancellation occurs more than one week prior to the audiiton.
